FMV fans won’t have to search hard for the star of Paul Raschid’s last thriller, Hello Stranger, to pop in his upcoming FMV horror-thriller game The Run: he’s one of a handful of people in the trailer. The game was already known about due to Deadline casting updates, but today it has been officially announced to the world. The Run follows a fitness influencer who finds herself hunted by killers in the remote Italian woodlands. It is up to the player/viewer to make the correct decisions to keep her alive, alongside a local farmer.

Here’s a brief catch-up on Paul Raschid. He began as a linear filmmaker before turning to the non-linear ability of games, and has been on the rise ever since. At the age of 32, he’s released five FMV video games, all of which are stellar: The Complex, Five Dates, Ten Dates, The Gallery, and Hello Stranger. (I am realizing now that I never reviewed The Gallery. My bad. I’ll try to rectify that soon.)

A fitness influencer, Zanna, is running through the breathtaking landscapes of Lake Garda, in Northern Italy, when her life spirals into being hunted by (seemingly) motiveless killers. Players have to make split-second decisions to shape the story in real-time.

The Run’s key features, from its developer, include:

  • Choice-driven gameplay with five unique endings to fully uncover the story.
  • Timed & Paused Choices for solo immersion or audience participation during group play.
  • 20 unique, harrowing deaths if the wrong choices are made.
  • A sprawling Story Map, unlocking all possible outcomes as players progress.
  • Over 3½ hours of intense filmed content, blending cinematic storytelling with interactive gameplay.
  • 5 endings that are distinctly different conclusions depending on the player’s prior choices.

“I can’t wait for players to dive into The Run,” says Paul Raschid in a press release. “Building on what I’ve done with The Gallery and Hello Stranger, Full-Motion games are showing just how entertaining and engaging interactive cinema can be. We’ve packed The Run with suspense, surprises, and choices that truly matter. It’s a horror experience where you’re not just watching, you’re part of the story. I’m excited for fans to take the plunge and see how intense things can get!”

From PRM Games, in collaboration with Benacus Entertainment and RNF Productions, The Run will be released for iOS/Android on September 28; a PC launch will follow later this year.

Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
