Daedalic Entertainment and DALOAR have announced an April release date for first-person narrative-driven psychological horror game The Occultist. Originally scheduled to be released in 2025, this is a delay of a few months from any previous release window. A digital deluxe edition including a 200-page artbooks and the game’s complete soundtrack will be available in addition to its standard edition.

The game follows paranormal investigator Alan Rebels as he travels to a mysterious island (GodStone) to determine the cause of his father’s sudden disappearance. Alan’s father mentioned the island repeatedly over the decades, but all Alan knows is that his father was born and spent his early years there. Alan carries a mystical pendulum, which has an unknown origin but has accompanied him throughout his past investigations.

The island was inhabited until 1950. Its residents were an infamous, macabre cult that performed disturbing experiments and cruel rituals. Nobody set foot on the island until Alan appeared. Using his paranormal talents, Alan interacts with the souls roaming the remaining streets and buildings… or he can choose to avoid them at all costs, which is especially helpful when the souls are wrathful.

Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
