Fishbowl is a title that I’ve seen in many game showcases, including but not limited to the Access-Ability Summer Showcase 2024 and Wholesome Snack 2025. Because of this, I am so happy to share that an early April release date has been announced for the heartfelt coming-of-age adventure game about isolation, friendship, and grief. It will be released for PC and PlayStation 5.
Fishbowl follows Alo, who is drowning in feelings of grief, isolation, and adult responsibilities. Rediscover her memories and lead her way to the present in this slice-of-life meets surreal adventure. She receives an unlikely lifeline: a magical talking fish, Paplet, from her childhood. Alo will unravel the threads of her past, readying her for giving way to a new future.
Here are Fishbowl’s key features, via Wholesome Games:
- Through daily tasks and activities, find ways to create a fulfilling life, even while in isolation.
- With the help of an unlikely companion, re-examine events from your past and piece together the meaning of your dreams.
- As a video editor, edit files with a dynamic matching game, meet your co-workers and support each other in doing the best that you can.
- No bad endings, just different paths. The choices you make will shape the possibilities in Alo’s future.
- Through the emotionally-rich narrative and thoughtful re-examination of your childhood, figure out who you want to be.
“The two of us have poured our hearts into Fishbowl from our two desks for the past five years,” says Rhea Gupte and Prateek Saxena, the two-person team behind Fishbowl, in a press release. “It feels surreal that it will soon be out in the world for people to experience. We are eager to see what they take from Alo’s story, and we wish for it to bring hope and a space for reflection.”
Developed by imissmyfriends.studio and published by Wholesome Games, Fishbowl will be released for PC via Steam and PlayStation 5 on April 2. Pre-order on PlayStation 5 to gain access three days early, on March 30.
