Thank Goodness You’re Here! launches on Xbox this December
Originally launched in August 2024, comedy slapformer adventure game Thank Goodness You’re Here! has been announced for Xbox Series, rounding out its availability on all current major platforms. In the game, a travelling salesman arrives early for his meeting with the mayor of a bizarre Northern English town. To pass the time, he explores and meets the locals, who all have some very odd jobs that need completing.

With each completed odd job, new areas of the town open up, stranger and stranger tasks become available, and the clock ticks towards our salesman’s big meeting. The town’s colorful inhabitants are brought to life with vibrant hand-drawn animation, fully voiced dialogue, and wall-to-wall double entendres.
Developed by Coal Supper and published by Panic, Thank Goodness You’re Here! will be released for Xbox Series on December 9; it will also be available for PC via Microsoft on the same day. It is currently available for PC via Steam/Epic, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
Japanese Rural Life Adventure is leaving AA exclusivity
Japanese Rural Life Adventure is a slow-paced life simulation game that was originally released as an Apple Arcade exclusive in September 2023. It has now been announced for PC and Nintendo Switch, though there’s no release date in sight. (This news hypes me up, because it’s nearly the two-year mark of Tamagotchi Adventure Kingdom on AA, and I’d love to have it on PC and consoles.) The relaxing game introduces players to traditional Japanese countryside living, set in a pixel-art world.
Live surrounded by nature, fixing up an old house and its yard to grow crops and become self-sufficient. Here, things city dwellers take for granted need to be made by hand. Simulate traditional cooking around the irori hearth in your heritage home. Events occur year-round, depending on the season, location, and time of day. By strengthening your relationship with locals, you can restore the lively town. You can also earn items or unlock new areas by completing quests and interacting with the villagers.
Developed by Game Start LLC and published by G-Mode Corporation, Japanese Rural Life Adventure will be released for PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch, though a release date has not been revealed.
The Bakumatsu period joins three others in Nioh 3
Nioh 3 players will be facing off against Shinsengumi troops in Japan’s Bakumatsu period, Koei Tecmo revealed last week. The Bakumatsu period joins three other periods — Edo, Sengoku, and Heian — in the dark samurai action RPG.
Here are the details, via Koei Tecmo:
A future era is twisted beyond recognition after Kunimatsu, who fell into darkness, proclaims himself the eternal shogun.
As Edo and nearly all of Japan are swallowed by the Crucible, Kyoto, protected by the sacred Spirit Trees, stands as the final stronghold, where loyalists continue their desperate resistance.
For the first time in franchise history, the Bakumatsu period will be established as a new setting for players to fight through in Nioh 3. Serving as the final era of the samurai, the stage is set in 1800s Kyoto, where the land and iconic landmarks such as the Kiyomizu and Honnoji temples have been overtaken and transformed by the Crucible’s influence.
In addition to encountering new and fearsome yokai, players will also face the Shinsengumi, a military squad that serves the shogunate. Shinsengumi troops are challenging foes equipped with modern weaponry such as firearms and gatling guns, delivering a combination of ranged and multi-directional attacks—a first in the history of the Nioh series.
During their journey, players will encounter a new cast of distinctive characters unique to each time period. In Bakumatsu-era Kyoto, protagonist Tokugawa Takechiyo will meet Takasugi Shinsaku, Okita Soji, and Tokugawa Yoshinobu, the 15th shogun of the Edo shogunate.
Developed by Team NINJA and published by Koei Tecmo, Noih 3 will be released for PC via Steam and PlayStation 5 on February 6, 2026.
