Hello Kitty Island Adventure has been available for Nintendo Switch for about ten months, and today, developer Sunblink announced that an upgrade pack is now available for Switch 2 players. This comes as no surprise to current players of the game, as the last patch made it impossible to communicate in the game with one of each console. Only the upgrade pack is available, so players still need to own/purchase the original Nintendo Switch version as well.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure follows Hello Kitty and friends after they become stranded on a magical island. Players create their own Sanrio-esque character and interact with the world and its characters. The world contains multiple biomes, ranging from tropical to icy. Some of the characters have opened businesses, including Hello Kitty’s café and My Melody’s furniture shop. Others like to spend their time at their favourite locations; Kuromi is generally found in the Spooky Swamp, but when the sun rises, she is on the beach.

There is a storyline to follow, with an incredible amount of side quests. There are many collections to complete through activities like exploring, fishing, bug-catching, and more. The game is being updated regularly with new side quests, visiting characters, and much-needed bug fixes. (The Nintendo Switch version in particular is quite bad when it comes to lag, crashing, and bugs.) The game runs on a real-world clock, but the time of day still rotates as you play. There are consistent events that add to gameplay and help players collect special furniture and clothing.

Developed and published by Sunblink, Hello Kitty Island Adventure is now available for Apple Arcade, PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and Switch. In addition, the Wheatflower Wonderland DLC launched recently for all platforms except Apple Arcade, where it is included with an AA subscription.
