MotionRec launches next week

Tape recorder-themed puzzle action game MotionRec features a unique mechanic where you record and playback your movements. You use this ability to guide Rec, civilization-recording robot, through a devastated world. The game now has a release date, and it’s soon!

In the MotionRec, you record the trajectory of their movements, from walking to jumping, and play them back to interact with the unique and different levels and terrain. You can also use stage gimmicks to create and record more complex movements. For example, high places that you cannot reach at first can be accessed by recording upward movement. Creative solutions are needed for each puzzle-filled stage.

Developed by Handsum and published by Playism, MotionRec will be released for PC via Steam on October 27.

News Tower launches next month

1930s newsroom tycoon game News Tower has gone gold, so the developer and publisher have announced a mid-November release date! It’s been available in Early Access for some time now, but this will mark its 1.0 launch. In the game, you’re put in charge of a chaotic 1930s New York newsroom on a quest to build a media empire.

Here is a new behind-the-scenes look at News Tower’s jazzy music:

With its 1.0 launch, News Tower will include a long list of new features: news from 1936-1939, a new military faction, a revamped faction quests/reputations/rewards, a competitor system, a revamped perception system, new endgame unlockable towers, new districts/objects/decorations, achievements, leaderboards, and expanded localization (new languages include French, Spanish, German, Brazilian Portuguese, Polish, Russian, and Simplified Chinese).

Developed by Sparrow Night and published by Twin Sails Interactive, News Tower will be released for PC via Steam on November 18.

Lens is coming to PC in Japan

Japanese horror adventure game Lens (previously known as Renzu) first launched for consoles this past August, and today it was announced that the title will be coming to PC via Steam (all in Japan only, I’m afraid). In the game, the protagonist is afflicted by a mysterious curse due to a seemingly trivial incident and must discover its origins to survive. Investigated haunted locations that hold clues, inching towards the terrifying truth behind the curse.

Explore haunted locations searching for clues, using only a flashlight and the cursed camera app that can capture spirits in image form. Look for general weirdness and investigate what feels off. Capturing specific spirits will unlock a Spirit Video, vital for curse-breaking clues. Locations include a cemetery, an abandoned house, and a shrine.

Developed by Orgesta and published by Nippon Ichi Software, Lens will be released in Japan for PC via Steam “soon.” It is currently available (in Japan) for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.

Cozy Corners launches in November

In stickerbook sim Cozy Corners, you can decorate dioramas (AKA Corners) using hundreds of themed stickers. Corners include a frog shrine, taverns, and an astronomer’s mystical tower. The game has no time pressures and no set objectives; it’s all in the decoration. The indie title will be released next month for PC.

From a press release, the key features of Little Corners include:

  • So Many Stickers: Place a large library of uniquely themed stickers for each diorama.
  • Gentle Puzzles: Chilled-out puzzle gameplay mechanics allow you to place stickers near each other to unlock secret new stickers!
  • Drag and Drop: Super satisfying mechanics make placing stickers a joy, while layering also offers additional opportunities for creativity.
  • Lofi Beats to Stick to: An original lofi soundtrack sets the tone for the decorating gameplay.

Developed by Meteor Pixel and published by Meteor Pixel with Secret Sauce, Cozy Corners will be released for PC via Steam on November 13.
