Spray Paint Simulator is delayed for Nintendo Switch

While Spray Paint Simulator launched for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox last month, its Nintendo Switch release date was set for June 19. Two days prior to that, publisher Whitethorn Games announced that the colourful simulator game’s Nintendo Switch version will be delayed by about a month. The delay is to incorporate feedback from the game’s initial release. (I think this is a great move, considering some of my issues with the game, which I detailed in my review.)

Spray Paint Simulator Review

A press release from the publisher states, “We know that fans are eagerly awaiting the game’s release on Nintendo Switch. Thanks to the generous feedback, we have made several fixes and changes to enhance the experience. This extra time will ensure that all these updates are included in the Nintendo Switch version on day one, giving players the best possible version of the game on that platform.”

Developed by North Star Video Games and published by Whitethorn Games, Spray Paint Simulator is available for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Xbox One. It will launch for Nintendo Switch on July 22.

Doronko Wanko launches for Nintendo Switch alongside a PC update

Casual-yet-mischievous mess-making canine adventure game Doronko Wanko will be bringing its mess to Nintendo Switch next month, including five new dog breeds when compared to its PC release. PC players won’t be left behind, though, as it will be possible to purchase the new breeds individually or as a bundle. The five new pup breeds are the Corgi, Shiba-Inu, Jack Russell Terrier, Bulldog, and Toy Poodle, in addition to the poofy Pomeranian protagonist.

You’re a pup, your mom is asleep, and everyone else is out of the house. What is there to do other than make the housekeeping bill skyrocket to six figures? The humans will love that! Crash into crates of wine, shake sodas all over the sofa, and leave paw prints on prized possessions. Spread mud and paint over the shiny floors to uncover hidden puppy pictures. Open new areas by returning misplaced toys to their rightful homes. Keep up the damage to unlock things like fans, vacuum robots, and paint turrets.

Developed by Bandai Namco Studios and published by Phoenixx Inc., Doronko Wanko is available for PC via Steam. It will launch for Nintendo Switch on July 23, and its PC update will drop on the same day.

Bleak, surrealist puzzle horror game Concierge announced

In Concierge, logic is fragile, memory is suspect, and you never quite know what you are solving or why. The atmospheric, genre-bending narrative puzzle game is set in a desolate snowbound hotel. (Perhaps inspired by The Shining?) You awake there with no voice or direction, with only a cryptic concierge and an outdated camcorder to help you. The non-linear story features fragmented realities. Solve puzzles in six rooms across six surreal game worlds. The puzzles don’t obey any tutorial, and the only hints you’ll get are in the form of riddles. Each encounter is a self-contained act, but it all builds to one final revelation.

From a press release, the game’s key features include:

  • Maximalist Mystery – Concierge’s cryptic design invites constant speculation, with every detail hiding potential secrets. It doesn’t guide. It dares.
  • Six Rooms, Six Guests, Six Realities – From VHS-soaked hide-and-seek to abstract platforming purgatories and somber personality quizzes, every level redefines the player’s relationship to play itself.
  • The Parasonik Camcorder – Your one true tool. Uncover phantoms, solve optical illusions, and capture slivers of reality hidden in static and shadow.
  • Bold and Unsettling Aesthetic – An idiosyncratic, darkly esoteric artistic vision steeped in subdued melancholy, viral lo-fi analog horror, and cinema of psychological decay.
  • It’s All Up to You – Every mechanic must be learned intuitively. No one will hold your hand. Reach out beyond your comfort zone to find mastery and meaning in this confusing world of nebulous questions and flimsy answers.

Developed by Kodino Artes and published by Digital Tribe Games, Concierge is scheduled to be released for PC via Steam in September.

The upcoming update for Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time adds a new mode

A new character in Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time. He looks like a bear, and he's wearing purple and carrying big suitcases on its back.

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is getting a free update soon, Update the World!, and we already knew it would include new recipes and expanded content. Last week, Level-5 announced it would also add a new Roguelike Open World mode and a character pivotal to the story. (I’m not anywhere near done, but shouldn’t anyone that important already be in the game?) The Roguelike Open World is an evolved version of Ginormosia that includes, per Level-5, “a system blending roguelike and open-world elements that offers engaging content for both experienced players and newcomers alike.”

But what about that new character? This is all that’s been said about them: “A new character emerges,
representing a new world. A brand-new character will debut alongside the new content, one who plays a pivotal role in the story and is set to leave a significant mark on the world.”

Oh, as a bonus, Level-5 released a code for some very adorable in-game goodies to celebrate the one million player milestone the game just hit.

Fantasy Life i gift code: AF579XS2.

Developed and published by Level-5, Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is available for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Switch 2, Switch, and Xbox Series.

Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
