Devolver Digital Marketing Countdown to Marketing, June 9 2022

It’s time for our last recap of the day, Devolver Digital. I honestly have no idea what to expect with this one, as Devolver has had some whacky, subversive showcases in the past. Limited Run Games tried and failed to have a narrative this year, so we’ll see if Devolver falls to its own devices or really nails it. Oh, and there’s games too.

I came in on time, when I saw it’s set 20 minutes in the future before my stream cut. When I return a minute later, the scientists are talking about doing something like a Zoom call but not a Zoom call, and there’s a giant robot with guns for arms and a screen inside its body. What’s up nerds? It’s Suda51 on the screen! Here we go…

Cult of the Lamb

We start with a cute little piggy is afraid at night, but don’t worry: someone is here to save it! Cult of the Lamb features lots of animals with big eyes, my favourite of all types of animals. Unfortunately, they’re sometimes killing others. And apparently all in a cult. The game will be released on August 11 for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series, and Xbox One.

Anger Foot

Whoever this protagonist is, they look like She-Hulk! And she’s shooting, like, a lot. The game is Anger Foot, and that’s all we’re told.

Card Shark

Set in 18th century France, Card Shark is a delectable tale of daring, danger. It is available now for PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch. Here is the DDNet review. And here is its launch trailer from a week ago:

The Plucky Squire

Sam’s room is the typical kid’s room. In it is a book: The Plucky Squire. It’s about a boy who wanders the land, helping others and generally being heroic. One day, he pops right out into Sam’s room. It will be released in 2023 for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series.

Skate Story

This game by Sam Eng with music by Bloody Cultures. It’s like… crystalised skateboarding? That’s the best way I can put it. It’s actually quite cool looking. You’re a demon made of glass and pain, hence the crystal-look. Yet… you must skate through the underworld. Skate Story will be released for PC via Steam.

Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
