I’ve been playing a lot of retro and retro-styled games recently, and it has reminded me that in a lot of ways pixel art is the perfect aesthetic for video games. The way it inspires the imagination is like a good book, and adds to the interactivity of the art form.

In this video, I discuss pixel art, my history with it, and why I find it so perfect for the video game medium. It’s not just about the nostalgia, I promise! This applies to modern pixel games too.

As always, let me know your own thoughts in the comments!
