You’re not going to believe this… Resident Evil Requiem looks scary

Alyssa is such a good horror protagonist name.

Capcom has announced Resident Evil: Requiem. This is the ninth title in the series, and it’s bringing things back full circle. In that I mean the game features a return to Racoon City. Or, at least, seems to.

The game’s announce trailer features the destroyed rubble of the city. It also heavily features Alyssa Ashcroft from Outbreak, so it’s pretty likely that she’ll be the protagonist this time around. Other than that, we don’t know much about the game. The trailer is one of those rather frustrating “cinematic” types, more focused on storytelling then letting us know what we’ll actually be getting into by playing.

But that’s okay. I’m sure we’ll be hearing plenty more about this game in the leadup to its launch on February 27, 2026. It’s coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC (no Switch 2, sadface).

Here’s the PR copy for people who want to have their appetites whet by the official Capcom line about the game:

Resident Evil Requiem is the ninth title in the mainline Resident Evil series. Prepare to escape death in a heart-stopping experience that will chill you to your core.

“A new era of survival horror begins in 2026. Technological advancements combined with the development team’s depth of experience combine in a story with rich characters and gameplay that’s more immersive than ever before.”
