Publisher Annapurna Interactive and BAFTA-winning Aussie indie developer Beethoven & Dinosaur have revealed a new trailer for their upcoming game, Mixtape. It follows a group of teenage friends on their last night together, replaying their past; it promises to be a mixtape in terms of narrative, gameplay, and music. The new trailer was revealed during Summer Game Fest, with an extended look during Day of the Devs 2025. It will also be featured at the Tribeca Games Festival in New York next week.

Mixtape’s soundtrack includes songs by DEVO, Roxy Music, Lush, The Smashing Pumpkins, Iggy Pop, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, and more. In the game, you’ll play through a mixtape of memories set against this soundtrack of a generation, and experience the joys and struggles of the teenage riot.
Here is a description of the game, from its developer and publisher:
En route to their final party together, a perfectly curated playlist draws three friends into dreamlike reenactments of their formative memories. Experience a variety of narrative vignettes exploring the pivotal moments that shaped them. Players will immerse themselves in the teenage wasteland by playing through a mixtape of joyful gameplay, from skateboarding and flying to taking photos after hours at an abandoned theme park, hitting baseballs, and putting on a fireworks show from the backseat of a car. It’s the greatest hits of the teenage experience, from the first kiss to the last dance.
Mixtape is inspired by classic coming-of-age films and aims to blend nostalgic aimlessness, mischief, music, the highs and lows of adolescence, and the bittersweet feelings brought about by growth, transformation, and moving on.
Developed by Beethoven & Dinosaur and published by Annapurna Interactive, Mixtape will be released for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series “soon.”
