Nintendo has announced an early November release date for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, remade with overhauled visuals, fully voiced cutscenes, expanded character dialogue, symphonic orchestral music, reworked camera and movement controls, and more. The first physical print run will celebrate the release with special foil packaging.
Two ocarinas will be available later this year: a playable version and an electric version that plays notes or entire songs with the press of a button. Play or hum one of Link’s learned melodies within range of the system’s built-in microphone, and he’ll perform the song in the game. Two new amiibo figures—Young Link and Young Zelda—will launch in 2027. They can be used to unlock special retro-styled in-game masks.
Today’s Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct presentation (which you can watch in full here) shared various details about the upcoming Ocarina of Time remake. Visuals have been overhauled, down to textures; actions are snappier, load times are faster, the game runs more smoothly, sounds have been refreshed, and it includes symphonic orchestral music. Newly added button commands increase movement and control. There is improved camera control using the Right Stick.
Hyrule is more immersive. Characters are fully voiced during expanded cutscenes, and boy, do they have a lot to say! Locations have been fully remodelled, with added details. The day/night cycle continues regardless of your location. As you progress, a large tapestry will fill; at any point, you can check your progress and your next objective.
Developed and published by Nintendo, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake will be released for Switch 2 on November 5.
