Seriously, the title is longer than the English world-record holder.

I need to take a deep breath before I even type this title out, that’s how long it is. So – deep breath – here we go. Aksys Games has revealed new details about Experience’s upcoming dungeon crawler, titled Mon-Yu: Defeat Monsters And Gain Strong Weapons And Armor. You May Be Defeated, But Don’t Give Up. Become Stronger. I Believe There Will Be A Day When The Heroes Defeat The Devil King. I had to italicize the entire thing just so you’d know when it’s me writing again and not just more title. I love it.

Experience has made some phenomenal dungeon crawlers in the past, like Undernauts: Labyrinth of Yomi (Matt’s review here), so it’s likely safe to trust that Mon-Yu will be a great experience. It’s an homage to classic RPGs, and places emphasis on character creation, party optimization, and good old-fashioned turn-based combat. The game features adorable character portraits, tons of weapons and armour, and flexibility in skill point allocation so the lineup can be tweaked as much as the player wants. There’s also an option to speed up combat so clearing dungeons doesn’t feel like a grind, as we all know it can.

Players will choose from eight different classes and a wide variety of cute portraits to assemble a team and challenge the tower. There are portraits from other Experience titles, such as Undernauts: Labyrinth of Yomi, Spirit Hunter: Death Mark, Spirit Hunter: NG, and more. While traversing the dungeons, discover strong weapons and armour to help along the way. Level up the heroes, class skills, and gear to defeat the Devil Kings, no matter how many times you die. There are three different play styles, each with a unique play experience and access to the maps: Carefree, Standard, and Challenging.

Developed by Experience and published by Aksys Games, Mon-Yu: Defeat Monsters And Gain Strong Weapons And Armor. You May Be Defeated, But Don’t Give Up. Become Stronger. I Believe There Will Be A Day When The Heroes Defeat The Devil King will be released for PC, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch on September 21.

Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
