Cognition senses a new trailer

Phoenix Online Studios and Reverb’s Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller has its first trailer. The vid introduces the title character, her strange gift, and her hunt for a cold-blooded killer.

Cognition is a thought-provoking mystery following Erica Reed, a Boston-based FBI agent, haunted by the unsolved case of a serial killer who took her brother’s life. Taking a turn for the strange, Erica investigates with the ability of post-cognition, sensing an object’s past with a mere touch. What unfolds is a much greater, much more complex and enigmatic mystery, as it becomes clear that someone knows her secret.

The graphics are looking pretty sharp there. Very comic book-y, which should come as no surprise since they come courtesy of X-Men and Witchblade vet Romano Molenaar. And you might recognize one of the designers too- it’s Jane Jensen, creator of genre staple from those golden days of point-n-click Gabriel Knight.

Episode 1 of the game, titled The Hangman will be available this Fall, but you can get an early look if you happen to be at PAX Prime from August 31st through September 2nd. Just pop by the Reverb booth (#3340) to have a peek for yourself.

  • This is looking pretty darned good to me. One of the best things about the games going downloadable is that it's lead a revival of the point-and-click genre. Devs/ publishers can make these cheaper now, which makes them less of a risky business proposition.

  • Yep, definitely right there with you. It's one of my favorite genres and it's so great to see it making a comeback! I do miss those gigantic boxes from the '90s though… The Tex Murphy box even had a glowing LED on it 😉
