More Miku! More puzzles! Thank you for your collaboration, vocaloid and puzzle game gods! Hatsune Miku Logic Paint S+ is the sequel to the 2020 game, which was an expansion to a mobile title. DDNet Editor-in-Chief Matt loved that game, writing in his review that the game is more than just a collection of well-made nonograms. With over 1000 puzzles (almost three times as many as its predecessor), Hatsune Miku Logic Paint S+ is more to love. The game will be released worldwide later this month for PC and consoles.
I’ve referenced as Hatsune Miku Logic Paint S+ a sequel because that’s what it’s described as by the publisher, though the Steam description calls that into question: “This new and improved version of Hatsune Miku Logic Paint S includes a variety of new features … multiple new puzzles have been added to the previous title!” So it’s either a sequel or an enhancement, and based on the “+” rather than a number after the title, I expect that it’s closer to the latter.
Nonogram puzzles seem more complicated than they are. In the traditional puzzle, players use numbers above and to the left as hints indicating the proper squares to fill in. There’s the ability to X out squares you know shouldn’t be coloured in. New players won’t be lost, though, as Hatsune Miku Logic Paint S+ does include the basic rules.
The normal puzzles include board sizes of 10×10, 15×15, and 20×20. There are also 75×75 and 100×100 special puzzles, where you put together multiple puzzles to form one image. By solving puzzles, players unlock illustrations, songs, and — new in Logic Paint S+ — character costumes and room decorations. Dress up Miku and her friends, and decorate a fun hangout room for them. The game includes 30 fan-submitted songs. Collect stars by completing puzzle missions to unlock new songs. You can then listen to the tracks on both the home and puzzle screens.
I don’t normally promote giveaways, but nobody should miss out on their shot at Miku figurines! Unfortunately, this giveaway is Twitter-heavy, but there are other ways to earn entries as well. Three winners will receive a 1/7th scale “Beauty Looking Back” Hatsune Miku figure, plus an exclusive Hatsune Miku Logic Paint S+ themed acrylic block. Ten more winners will receive the acrylic block alone. Enter here by July 31.
Developed by Crypton Future Media and published by KOMODO, Hatsune Miku Logic Paint S+ will be released for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One. The press release states the launch date is July 23, but other outlets are reporting July 24.
