Gust has shared new details about Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian, including a new systems introduction trailer. It also shared that the game and Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator are considered A25 in the franchise, making Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian a new entry in the series (it is not a spin-off or a port). The two titles are set in one universe, but the upcoming Atelier Resleriana is a new story occurring in parallel with its predecessor.
While Rias and Slade are on their journey, she’ll meet new and familiar characters from past Atelier games, including alchemist Ryza and her friend Klaudia from the ‘Secret’ series, and Ayesha Altugle from the ‘Dusk’ series. Rias and Slate can use their team members’ skills during turn-based combat. When Multi-Actions are triggered, support characters can perform up to three actions in a row. During multi-skills attacks, players can use two or more items to trigger Item Mix, adding extra effects. When the Unite Gauge is filled, players can benefit from different effects depending on the number of unites available.
Here is more information on synthesis gameplay, from a press release:
In Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian, players will synthesize items by connecting the “Gift Colours” of selected ingredients, adding traits to the final item. Some specific ingredients, known as “Catalyst Ingredients”, will have particular effects included, allowing fans to synthesize special items. For example, the “Altus” catalyst ingredient will allow players to determine the “Gift Colours” of the next ingredient, while the “Iris Stone” catalyst ingredient will change the pre-designated category of the next ingredient slot. Adding certain ingredients will trigger a “Recipe Morph” and change the recipe being synthesized, allowing players to create new items. By cooperating with up to three other team members or fairies during the synthesis process, players can create items with even more powerful effects, while using Slade’s Geist Core will allow them to enhance only once an item has already been synthesized.
While exploring the Lantarna continent, dungeons are Dimensional Paths and their structure changes randomly with each visit. The dungeons’ difficulty can be chosen, changing the enemies, the categories, and ingredient placement. Higher difficulties result in more valuable ingredients and rewards. There are fairies to encounter who give players useful items, and they can also be recruited to sell synthesized items at the Mistletoe Miscellaneous.
Developed by Gust and published by Koei Tecmo, Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian will be released worldwide for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. In Japan, a PlayStation 4 version is also available.
