It’s another quality week for Nintendo’s download service as the eShop plays host to superheroes, outlaws, and a classic ape.

I almost feel spoiled by the last two weeks of demos on the 3DS. Last week, if you’ll recall, LEGO Batman 2 landed on the service (and was great). This week- it’s the Amazing Spider-Man. All this superhero action and Comic Con isn’t even for another month!

Classic gaming is also in in a big way this week with the release of Donkey Kong jr. I never really had as good a time with DKj as I did with the little guy’s pop. Maybe it’s because Mario is the villain in this one? I don’t know. I’ll tell you what I did have a good time with ‘back in the day’ though- Mad Dog McCree.

Yes ’90s gaming fans, it’s true- the live action, FMV loaded, shooting gallery game is now on the 3DS. I used to while away tons of hours playing these laughably bad (and that’s a good thing) kinds of games with my friends. Nothing went better with a Saturday afternoon and pizza delivery. How it plays without a light-gun, I don’t know, but it still warms my heart to see it listed.

So those are the biggies for this week’s edition of the NDL, but there’s other stuff to dig through as well. Some of you might actually want to blow the layer-cake of dust off of your Wii too, because Mega Man X2 is up. A non-SNK title released for the Wii’s download channel? Shocking- but true!

  • Mega Man X2 is an incredible classic, and if I didn't already own it on SNES and in the Mega Man X Collection, I'd snatch it up once more.

  • Haha- you know I actually forgot about those? The last X game I really remember clearly was X4.
All the same, I'd still probably dig 'em if they had the same art/play style
