Artwork for PlayStation's State of Play broadcast on June 2 @ 2 p.m. PT / 5 p.m. ET / 11 p.m. CEST / June 3 at 6 a.m. JST.

This is the first recap/highlight reel of a very busy week ahead, and Sony dove into it headfirst, showcasing games such as Wolverine, Kemuri, and Control Resonance. The nearly hour-long presentation is half spent on God of War: Laufey, so you can duck out around the 40-minute-mark if you’re not interested in that.

Game highlights

Wolverine

This is a beefy new look at the game. Wolverine is trying to rescue kidnapped mutants, and learns he isn’t the only one trying to save them. (Logan’s arm hair is phenomenal here.) It is all very bloody as he kills with his claws. Logan slices and dices a bunch of goons while trying to rescue mutants in a Trask shipping container. And who appears to help him? Jean Grey, of course! Wolverine continues his violent streak while Jean manipulates the baddies with her energy. Some dude gets impaled on a forklift. Then Logan jumps on a motorcycle, tailing the truck carrying the container, and he starts killing goons again. So many goons! Never-ending goons! He fights his way to the kidnapped mutants, but is pulled away to fight some more goons. Mystique and Sabretooth are briefly featured in the footage.

Kemuri: Hunt the Unseen

Kemuri is an action game set in Kemuri City, where life and death coexist. Here, the line between reality and the afterlife constantly shifts; paranormal phenomena are normal. Yokai range from traditional folkloric creatures to modern original spirits. These beings are created by the people and by the city itself. As a yokai hunter, you search for yokai, form contracts with them, and grow stronger with their powers. Some hunters will choose close combat, others may strike from a distance, and others prefer supernatural powers. Confront the paranormal as you explore the sprawling vertical city alone or in online co-op with up to two other players.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword

Way of the Sword is a brand-new title in the Onimusha series. It is set in Kyoto during the early Edo period. Miyamoto Musashi gains the power of the Oni and must face monsters running rampant throughout the city. This fifth trailer for the game features Mount Oe, a famous site where natural landscapes intertwine with history and legend. The Big Bad uses this as his stronghold to perpetrate a series of heinous acts.

A demo is now available.

Control Resonant

This brand-new story trailer for Control Resonant also announces its September 24 release date. In the game, Manhattan has been warped by paranatural forces. Its architecture is impossible, its realities are shifting, its streets are stalked by monsters born from a new kind of resonance. At the centre of the game is Dylan, this time the sole playable character instead of his sister Jesse. As Dylan ventures deeper into the city, he encounters foes that require him to master his evolving abilities and the raw power of his weapon. While Dylan’s story drives the game, Jessie is who shapes the path.

Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
