The First Descendant is an upcoming free-to-play third-person RPG-shooter by Nexon is looking like the combination of a Destiny 2 and Monster Hunter. If that sounds good to you there is a planned PC beta test just around the corner, in late October! You’ll be able to reserve a spot right now for the 20th to 26th of October on the official Steam page.

It sounds like customisation will be the name of the game of this one, as outlined by Nexon on the game’s official Steam page:

“You can equip a character with 3 guns, 4 secondary equipments, and various sub-weapons. Of course, there will also be items to enhance a character or their firearm stats or add a new ability altogether… We provide equipment so you can develop the characters to play continuously through character growth and acquiring and combining the various equipment. Use it to challenge yourself with more difficult tasks and enjoy the thrill of clearing them.”

In order to stray away from consolidating a reputation of being just another Destiny series clone, the upcoming release will additionally feature gimmick-based boss fights with monolithic creatures, and nuanced exploration of the ‘Ingris continent’, of which you and your allies reside. And I’ve got to say, putting everything else aside, I can say for certain that colossal boss fights will be a defining positive for me. The bigger the better as far as I’m concerned!

Nexon will have the game on front and centre this year during Gamescom, almost certainly taking advantage of the stunning graphics it has been able to deliver with Unreal Engine 5. The game’s beta is only playable on PC, but this will eventually get a release on PlayStation and Xbox consoles as well.
