As we move into March, the hardcore game fans better prepare themselves, because it’s a big month of releases ahead! We start with some irreverent South Park action, move through some beautiful classical JRPGs, serious shooters, traditional platformers, zombies, more RPGs, and more RPGs.

Actually, it’s such a loaded month for RPGs that we fully expect the traffic on Digitally Downloaded to collapse – you’re just not going to have the time to check the site, and we have a lot of RPG fans that read us.

South Park: The Stick of Truth – PS3, 360, PC – Release Date 3/4/2014

South Park: The Stick of Truth is the sixth game based on South Park but the only one to be overseen by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. They also wrote the script and providing the voices of the characters. So hopefully this one is actually decent. That would be a first for the franchise.

Dark Souls II – PS3, 360, PC – Release Date 3/11/2014, PC Release Date unknown

Dark Souls II is the highly anticipated sequel to Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls and promises to be just as punishing. The story will revolve around a cursed character trying to find a cure for their sickness, but the real story will actually be the millions of deaths that players experience on their way to that achievement.

Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky – PS3 – Release Date 3/11/2014

I love the Atelier series and cannot wait for this one (oh, and Matt loves it too, and has already reviewed it). It is the 15th game in the official Atelier series. Unlike other Atelier games you can pick from two different main characters Escha Malier and Logix “Logy” Fiscario. The game sold 57,550 copies in its first week, making it the second-best-selling PS3 title in Japan for the week of 24–30 June.

One of the Xbox One’s first big games. It is an online multiplayer-only first-person shooter with single player elements. The game won over 60 awards at E3 2013 It also won official awards at Gamescom and the Tokyo Game Show. Will this be the killer app Microsoft needs to help sell its console, which hasn’t quite launched to the same impact that Sony’s rival has?

Yoshi’s New Island – 3DS – Release Date 3/14/2014

The sequel to the 1995 game Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island and the 2006 game Yoshi’s Island DS. The art style is similar to previous Yoshi games, featuring oil painting, watercolor, and crayon-like designs. Now with giant-sized Mega Eggs!

The game gives core fans the opportunity to get a taste of the world-class production’s unparalleled visual presentation and gameplay before the release of the main game.

Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z – PS3, 360, PC – Release Date 3/18/2014

In Yaiba, players will battle fierce zombies as a cyborg ninja who will do anything to get revenge on Ryu from the “real” Ninja Gaiden games. Cleaved in two in a gory cut scene at the start, he is brought back to life with cyber-technology. Brandishing his ninja sword and the mecha weapons in his cyborg arm, he slaughters zombies with brutal, over-the-top abandon.

Another amazing looking PS4 game, inFAMOUS Second Son is the third game in the series. Second Son is set seven years after the good ending of Infamous 2. The game has a new protagonist named Delsin with new powers and a huge open world to explore. Second Son will show what the PS4 can do!

BlazBlue is my favorite fighting game so I cannot wait for this one.

The Witch and the Hundred Knight – PS3 – Release Date 3/25/2014

From the makers of the acclaimed Disgaea series comes an action RPG in which being bad can be a good thing! Full of the same dark humor and mischief beloved by fans of Disgaea, The Witch and the Hundred Knights tells of two witches locked in a vicious, hundred-year feud. As the Swamp Witch (a self-proclaimed genius), players will command 100 powerful Knights in hopes of finally defeating her long time foe, the Forest Knight.
