Gearbox Software’s highly anticipated Borderlands 2 is just a few weeks away. In the meantime, why not take a trip in the wayback machine- all the way back to the magical year of 1989.

So what would Borderlands have looked like if it was released in the ‘me decade’ of the ’80s instead of the happenin’ 2000’s? Well apparently it’d be a top down shooter for the Amiga.

It ain’t the prettiest thing in the world, but then again it’s 1989- what’d you expect?

So is it fun? Uh… yeah, it’s not bad for a few minutes distraction. I would have preferred to have seen a side-scroller, but I can see what they were going for- and you can’t beat the price. Get your Amiga on and play The Border Lands in your browser by clicking here.

The real thing hits stores on September 18th when Borderlands 2 releases for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

  • I am slightly confused…this isn't a game that was ACTUALLY out in '89 right?
This is probably me being stupid but it just doesn't seem like it is and I'm actually pretty sure it ain't 😛

  • Nope. It's a 'de-make', a completely contemporary creation that's made to look as though it came out years ago. Just goofy fun from Gearbox.
