Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI hitting PSN this week

It’s quite a big week for digital downloads on the PlayStation Network; games like Persona 2 and Resident Evil 4 are releasing, but Square Enix fans are in for a treat as well. The PlayStation Blog announced that two of the finest RPGs of the 1990s will be available this week – Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger.

If you’ve read our review of Final Fantasy VI (referred to as “III” in keeping with the original English release) for the Virtual Console, be aware that the PlayStation title only slightly differs. The PS One games were slightly notorious for long load times, but PSN re-releases sometimes amend disk load times. We’ll have to wait and see.

The game is releasing in North America, but thankfully Australians can get access by simply signing up for a North American PlayStation Network account. Any differences in language are purely subtleties, so anyone from around the world with English skills can eat this up.
