It’s that time of year again. The Game Awards are imminent, and that means we can all sit back and bask in the glow of “the game industry’s Academy Awards”… or can we?

The Game Awards is a big issue for the ongoing artistic credibility of video games, unfortunately. While there is plenty to hold issue with the Academy Awards, the structure of them does lend itself to promoting the artistry of film, while The Game Awards is structured in such a way that focuses on games as product.

So I discuss this in this video. Be sure to let me know what you think, and what you think of this year’s The Game Awards.
