The key art for Hakuoki SSL ~Sweet School Life~

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, otome visual novel Hakuoki SSL ~Sweet School Life~ will be released in English this February, both digitally and physically. It centres around heroine Chizuru Yukimura and the handsome legendary warriors of the Shinsengumi. Most of the series is set in Edo Japan, but this time the characters are members of a school in modern Japan.

Regardless of the era, school life antics ensue as the characters hold a school festival, stress over midterms, and get into water gun fights. The fun slice-of-life story includes unlockable event scenes, engaging dialogue, and beautifully illustrated character portraits — all localized in English for the first time.

Physically, Hakuoki SSL ~Sweet School Life~ will be released in both standard and limited editions. Both will sell via Playasia. Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
