Watch Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles’ opening movie

Square Enix has revealed the opening movie for Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles in a new trailer. It is titled as Enhanced Opening Movie, with “enhanced” likely referring to the game’s modern updates.

Square Enix describes Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles in a press release:

Hailed as one of gaming’s greatest stories, players will step into the Kingdom of Ivalice—a medieval world steeped in political conflict— where players will uncover the truth behind the young noble Ramza Beoulve, whose role on history’s stage has been buried from view. The dramatic tale of ambition, betrayal, and honour will come to life with an updated and enriched script with fully voiced dialogue, alongside improved graphics that bring a new level of immersion and playability to the battlefield. Additionally, the enhanced version brings quality-of-life updates like new difficulties, a revamped UI, auto save, and more that make the game more accessible to newcomers. The game features strategic, turn-based combat and an elaborate character progression system that makes every battle exhilarating and filled with unexpected twists.

Developed and published by Square Enix, Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles will be released on September 30 for PC via Steam (Steam Deck compatible), PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Switch 2, Switch, and Xbox Series.

Meet the characters in Full Metal Schoolgirl

A second trailer has been released for upcoming action shooter Full Metal Schoolgirl, this time introducing prospective players to the game’s characters. In the game’s sickeningly possible future, it is the year 2089, and the economy is booming. People are expected to work 24 hours per day. The United Federation of Japan is an industrial powerhouse, in part due to its being one of the world’s leading countries in overtime work. The goal? Target the single corporation controlling the country’s industry.

As a fully-mechanized cyborg schoolgirl, storm into the corporation and give ’em hell — while being livestreamed. As the number of viewers increases, so does your income. The battles take place in a 100-story skyscraper where each floor is different with every visit. The security system is armed, and the CEO is on the top floor.

Developed by Yuke and published by D3 Publisher, Full Metal Schoolgirl will be released worldwide on October 23 for PC via Steam/Epic, PlayStation 5, and Switch 2.

Indika launches for Nintendo Switch this year

It’s been over a year since third-person adventure game Indika was released, first for PC and, two weeks later, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. I had nearly given up hope of a Nintendo Switch release, but then, last week, the news dropped that the title will be coming to the console before the end of the year.

Here is a brief description of the game, from 11 bit studios:

On the surface, Indika appears to be a humble nun trying to adapt to the rigid and monotonous rhythms of monastic life. But behind her quiet demeanour lies an unlikely friendship with the horn-headed tempter himself. This strange bond propels her into a world that feels torn from the pages of Dostoyevsky and Bulgakov, a place where the sacred and the profane intertwine, and where every step reveals new layers of mystery.

Developed by Odd Meter and published by 11 bit studios, Indika will be released this (Northern) fall for Nintendo Switch. A physical edition that includes the soundtrack will be available through Silver Lining Interactive

The Coma 3: Bloodlines has been announced for PC and consoles

2D run-and-hide horror sequel The Coma 3: Bloodlines has been announced for PC and consoles with a 2026 launch date window. Players must escape threatening puppets and shadow monsters, gather clues, solve problems, and unveil the mystery of the chaos surrounding the game’s three main characters. It is designed to allow players to experience the culture of South Korea while also uncovering its distinctive sorcery, curses, history, and style.

You can read DDNet’s review of The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters here.

Here is a description of the story, via the game’s publisher:

In a district of Seoul, South Korea, there was a school boasting a long history and tradition, known as “Sehwa Private High School.” Behind the scenes, people seeking to study the cursed underworld of history were exploring and managing this place under the name “Sehwa Foundation,” with their focus on the nightmare dimension, the mirror world of this reality: The Coma.

However, there were also those who viewed this place as an object of exploration and suppressed the dangerous elements. They are the Ghost Vigilantes. The wraiths of the past, who have traversed the ages to this time period, appear … and the once-quiet Coma dimension has once again become a realm of nightmare.

Developed by Dvora Studio and published by Headup, The Coma 3: Bloodlines will be released in 2026 for PC via Steam and unannounced consoles.

Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
