Australian indie developer Snag Swag Studios has announced an Australian-themed 2D metroidvania, Aussie Bogan Hero, set to launch for PC next year. Follow a mullet-wearing, beer-loving legend named Davo as he battles corporate goons and freaky creatures to reopen his pub and save Dusty Springs. A demo will be released via Steam on October 2.

This fast-paced game welcomes players to Dusty Springs. It’s a sleepy town in the Australian outback. Mullets are long, stubbies are cold, and local bogans are louder than magpies in mating season. Everything is normal until the nearby opal mine digs up gems packed with spooky spirits and weird powers. They’ve warped the land and turned wildlife into beefed-up beasts.

Drill and Thrill, a sketchy megacorp, moves in quickly. It buys the mine and milk it dry. As things get stranger, the company blames the locals. Suddenly, Dusty Springs is in full lockdown; that means no footy, no servo runs, and — gasp! — no pub! This is when Davo has had enough, so with his trusty thongs and a belly full of sausage rolls, he sets out to save his town and expose the megacorp’s shady practices.

Aussie Bogan Hero features exploration, messy combat, dinkum upgrades, and true blue laughs from one-liners to banter.

Developed and published by Snag Swag Studios, Aussie Bogan Hero will be released in Q1 2026 for PC via Steam.
