Game #24: Sonic Mania Plus
The holiday season always seems to come as quickly as it goes. While he can’t stop time for you, there’s no one better to help you live in the moment than Sonic. If the nostalgic melodies of composer Tee Lopes fail to make you feel warm and fuzzy (a punishable crime in several states), then the frenetic levels will remind you this is one of the blue blur’s best outings ever.
Old fashioned co-op and versus modes with friends are good fun as always, but Plus’s new Encore mode is where it’s at. You can assign each person in the room a character and swap between them as you go. It’s a mode that makes the Sonic gang feel like a team, so hopefully your loved ones will too.
