The key art for Papaya Plaza.

Created by a team including former Fortnite and Fall Guys developers, Papaya Plaza is a relaxing, bite-sized game where you become Mayor and turn a sleepy tourist town into a lively, energetic place. Design your own pixel art paradise, solve the villagers’ problems, and improve your town rank. The laidback sim game will launch for PC.

When you become the Mayor of Papaya Plaza, it’s up to you to transform the drab tourist town into a destination spot for visitors and a great place for residents. Improve your Town Rank and work towards a five-star status. This might sound stressful, but it’s not: the design is totally up to you. There are hundreds of options to choose from, and with art from Art Director Stef Bollen, you’ll be able to create your very own pixel art paradise.

Play your way while helping out the locals and opening new stores to earn money, which you can then spend to improve the town even further. Since you’re the Mayor, the locals come to you with both their problems and their ideas, and there might be lovely rewards if you help them out.

Here are the game’s key features, via Weekend Games:

  • Laidback Lychee: Low-stress and low stakes, the problem-solving and city-building gameplay is the perfect way to relax after a long day.
  • Pixel Art Pineapple:/ The game’s living world is beautifully crafted in pixel art style, making it a joy to look at and be in.
  • Five-Star Fig: Build your village and increase your Town Rank along the way. Improve enough, and you’ll become a 5-Star town; what an achievement!

Developed by Biscuit Factory Games and published by Weekend Games, Papaya Plaza will be released for PC via Steam. A playable demo is now available.

She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
