Publisher NIS America is partnering with developer IKINAGAMES Co. to bring sci-fi RPG Starbites to the West early next year. The game is scheduled to be released in Japan as The Starbites this October for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series. The Western announcement is for PC, PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and Switch — there’s no Xbox version listed.

A physical Limited Edition is now available for preorder on the NIS Online Store, which includes The Journey to STARBITES art book, the original soundtrack, Lukida’s Sweet Ride acrylic stand, a metal Motorbot pin set, and the Lukida and Friends rubber keychain set.

Here is NIS America’s description of the game:

Hop on your Motorbot and ride toward freedom in the brand-new RPG Starbites! On Bitter, a desert planet ravaged by the aftermath of an interstellar war, a young salvager named Lukida seeks to escape to the stars, but a sudden attack by a giant robot sets events into motion that will change her life—and the fate of Bitter—forever.

Explore the expansive landscape of Bitter atop your Motorbot, and fight your way to victory in a turn-based battle system that’s easy to learn and satisfying to master. Build up your party, kit out your Motorbots with powerful equipment, and head out into the deserts of Bitter! Somewhere beneath the dunes, the truth of what happened 45 years ago awaits…

Developed IKINAGAMES Co. and published in the West by NIS America, Starbites will be released for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and Switch in early 2026.

She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
