Square Enix has announced a physical retail-only compilation of all Life is Strange games to date for PlayStation 5, as the Life is Strange Collection. Launching in early October 2025, it includes Life is Strange Remastered, Life is Strange: Before the Storm Remastered, Life is Strange 2, Life is Strange: True Colours Deluxe Edition, Life is Strange: Double Exposure Ultimate Edition, and all DLC released for each game (including pre-order bonuses).

Life is Strange is a franchise of single-player narrative adventure games (there are also excellent comics!) that feature grounded stories with a supernatural twist. Square Enix shared a brief description of the protagonists in a press release: “Over five cinematic, emotional adventures, you’ll Rewind Time as Max Caulfield and uncover the secrets of Arcadia Bay with Chloe Price, take a road trip with Sean Diaz and his telekinetic brother Daniel, find a new home with psychic empath Alex Chen, and return to Max to solve a murder across two timelines.”

This collection seems a little bit odd. Yes, it’s all Life is Strange. However, the games are developed by two different developers: Don’t Nod created the IP, developing Life is Strange and Life is Strange 2; Deck Nine developed Life is Strange: Before the Storm, Life is Strange: True Colours Deluxe Edition, and Life is Strange: Double Exposure. And they don’t all follow the same characters. Life is Strange began with Max, who is also featured in the most recent title, Life is Strange: Double Exposure (one game per developer). Life is Strange: Before the Storm is a prequel, so it makes sense to me in the context of a trilogy. But Life is Strange 2 follows two brothers on the run, and Life is Strange: True Colours introduces a woman named Alex who moves to a small town. The five titles don’t fit together neatly at all.

It also isn’t all provided on physical media, which I seriously question. The two most recent titles, Life is Strange: True Colours and Life is Strange: Double Exposure are on discs, while the other three titles are download codes. It is a good price, though: USD $49.99.

Developed by Don’t Nod/Deck Nine and published by Square Enix, the Life is Strange Collection will be released for PlayStation 5 in retail stores on October 2.
