A medieval manuscript simulator… in this day and age? Sure, why not?! Scriptorium: Master of Manuscripts is an upcoming game from Inkulinati developer Yaza Games. While Daedalic Entertainment published Inkulinati, today Yaza Games and indie publisher Mythwright announced that the latter would be publishing Scriptorium: Master of Manuscripts for PC and unspecified consoles.
As seen in Inkulinati, Yaza Games has a unique illustrative style that should lend well to Scriptorium: Master of Manuscripts. The main difference between the two games is that Inkulinati was about creating a story through words while Scriptorium is about creating a story through illustrations.
“We are delighted to work with the remarkable scribes at Yaza Games to turn their vision into a full-fledged medieval masterwork that will be loved across the land,” says Mythwright Publishing Director Stuart Morton in a press release.
Pull yourself up by the bootstraps and get ready to open your medieval manuscript workshop, the Scriptorium. Create amazing illustrations on pages of books to fulfill orders from prestigious patrons. By completing orders you will be paid — but there are other perks! Unlock new orders and design elements, and grow your workshop. Become famous enough and your work may even reach the Queen.
Examples of your colourful cast of clients’ requests include illustrations depicting epic battles (between snails and dogs), and quaint scenes of peace and love (and the plague). And those aren’t even the weird ones! Either way, you can’t judge. But have fun doing as they want with your added flair and humour! You can illustrate beautiful pages, yes, but creating something as simple as memes might make the Queen glance your way.
These are the key features for Scriptorium: Master of Manuscripts, via the title’s press kit:
- Illustrate your own medieval manuscripts however you like
- Over 1,000 unique elements to unlock and use
- Grow and personalize your workshop with buyable items
- No right, no wrong, just creative fun
- Each illustration element is based on real-life medieval manuscript art
- Fulfil custom commissions from your favourite let’s players and medieval content creators
- Export your in-game designs and create medieval memes to share with your friends
Developed by Yaza Games and published by Mythwright, Scriptorium: Master of Manuscripts will be published for PC and unspecified consoles this year.
