Necromancers can communicate with the dead, which is a heavy cross to bear at times. But Necro Story isn’t all doom and gloom. It’s quite lighthearted, as you become an “evil” necromancer who prefers undead shenanigans to saving the world. Using minions to outsmart your foes, you can grab their souls to power up your team. Today, developer Rablo Games announced that Necro Story will be released in early October — just in time for spooky season! To celebrate the announcement, there is a new (rhyming) release date trailer.
In Necro Story, journey to the underworld as Jaimus the Necromancer. Cast spells, raise skeleton armies, sign pacts with demons, and capture souls — all while guided by a mischievous ghost named Vivi. The whimsical storyline blends dark fantasy and humour, filling the heartfelt narrative with witty banter and surprise twists. While playing, pay attention to your surroundings: hidden paths can be unlocked through puzzles, providing access to unique gear and items.
Necro Story features over 20 necromancy spells divided into five magical schools: Affliction, Darkness, Life Drain, Summoning, and Dark Pacts. Each spell has a skill tree so you can customize your abilities to your liking.
The trailer below is entirely in rhyme, giving it a whimsical feel that reflects the game. The trailer begins with Wolfy, the big bad wolf everyone loves to hate. He is constantly harassing people until you come along and capture his soul. Now, he has to fight, wear trinkets, and enhance his skills. He may not be in control of his actions but at least he’s always surrounded by friends. You’re the one in charge, though, so you can also choose to set him free.
Choose your companions wisely before equipping them and managing their skills. Give your squad a boost with actions like transforming into demons or summoning zombies. With your party’s help, capture enemy souls to transform them into your allies.
Developed and published by Rablo Games, Necro Story will be released for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series on October 7.
