One-Inch Tactics from Kogado Studio looks like a tabletop delight

Nothing beats a good, clean tactics game.

Kogado Studio, one of the veterans of the Japanese industry, will be releasing its next game in a week, and it looks like it’ll be a good one. One-Inch Tactics promises a streamlined, elegant, and yet challenging board game-like tactical experience.

There will be a wide range of tactical mechanics to consider. As the press release outlines:

Traverse mountains, urban areas, fortresses, and more, making sure to use the right equipment for each setting.

Keep in mind line of sight and line of fire as your strategy will have to take into account hilltops, cliff shadows and shields.

Carefully search for and uncover the enemy position to gain the upper hand in your operations.

Each pilot has their own strengths and weaknesses.

It’s important to organise your squad to make the most of their characteristics.

And as the trailer shows, there’s a nice, simple art style to the game too. Anyone who loves tactical board games absolutely loves the hexagon aesthetic, and the developer has really nailed it here.

Unfortunately the game only has a PC release set right now – it lands on Steam on May 20. It does look like a natural shoe-in for a console release, however, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see that announced in the not too distant future.
