The Hyperdimension Neptunia trilogy launches in the West this September

After a lot of hullabaloo about the (cancelled) Nintendo Switch versions of the games, Idea Factory International has announced the launch date of the PlayStation 4 versions for the three canonical Neptunia classics (Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 +, Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth2: Sisters Generation, and Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth3: V Generation). All three games will be available digitally and physically in North America and Europe at the end of September.

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 + follows Neptune after she’s been defeated in the War of the Guardians; she embarks on a quest to save the world with Compa, IF, and a sentient book called Histoire. Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth2: Sisters Generation follows the Goddesses after the advent of the morality-bankrupt Arfoire Syndicate of International Crime as they try to free the world from its grasp. Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth3: V Generation follows Neptune as she’s sucked into a new dimension resembling the ’80s; here, a nefarious alliance called the Seven Sages wants to rid Gamindustri of all Goddesses, and Neptune must defeat them and get back home.

Developed by Compile Heart/Felistella and published in the West for Idea Factory International, the Hyperdimension Neptunia trilogy of games will be released for PlayStation 4 on September 30.

Nintendo announces the actors portraying Link and Zelda

The Legend of Zelda casting announcement on X. The post reads: "This is Miyamoto. I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda, Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san. I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen."Last week, Nintendo announced the actors who will be playing Link and Zelda in the upcoming Legend of Zelda movie. The announcement was made via X (ew, Nintendo, why?!), but I’ve got a screenshot of it here, so you don’t need to venture into the madness.

The text reads: “This is Miyamoto. I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda, Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san. I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen.”

Benjamin Evan Ainsworth is a British actor with an already-impressive resume. The biggest parts include being a rather major character in The Haunting of Bly Manor and playing the “son” in CBC’s (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) Son of a Critch for its entire 52-episode run. Bo Bragason is relatively new to acting, with only four credits to her name; she is one of the top-billed actors in Renegade Nell.

Dead Take launches very soon

In last week’s catch-up, I wrote about the main cast announcement for the psychological horror game Dead Take. Since then, a July release date and further casting have been announced. The newly-announced main cast members include Jane Perry (Baldur’s Gate III), and Alanah Pearce (Cyberpunk 2077). Dead Take also includes cameo appearances from Laura Bailey (The Last of Us: Part II), Matthew Mercer (Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth), Sam Lake (Alan Wake II), Travis Willingham (Marvel Rivals), and CDawgVA (Honkai: Star Rail).

The game follows an actor named Chase as he searches for his friend Vinny, who vanished during a lavish Hollywood party. Navigate escape room-like puzzles and splice together found videos to uncover the dark underbelly beneath Hollywood’s glittering facade.

Developed by Surgent Studios and published by Pocketpair Publishing, Dead Take will be released for PC via Steam/Epic on July 31.

The Opening Movie trailer for Mystereet: Yasogami Kaoru no Chousen! reveals its release date

MAGES. has announced that the detective adventure game Mystereet: Yasogami Kaoru no Chousen! will be released at the end of July in Japan, with a PC release to follow. It is a port of the original Mystereet game, 2004’s Mystereet: Fukagyaku Sekai no Tantei Shishi. The original game was also ported to the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable, and the PSP version was later ported to PC. It feels like a turducken situation, doesn’t it?

Mystereet: Yasogami Kaoru no Chousen! follows the youngest class A detective in IDLA, Yasogami Kaoru. His job is to solve crimes that veteran police officers cannot crack. The game is split into a prologue and four episodes, though the plot lines are interconnected throughout.

Developed and published by MAGES, Mystereet: Yasogami Kaoru no Chousen! will be released digitally in Japan for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series on July 31. It will also launch for PC at a later date.

Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
