The key art for Bunhouse.

With Easter being last weekend, it is now basically the month of the bunny. And when it comes to bunny games, Bunhouse can’t be beat. It’s got fuzzy bunnies frolicking through a garden. It’s perfectly happy, perfectly soothing, and perfectly non-violent. In 2022, it was announced that Bunhouse would be coming to consoles in 2023. But come 2023 there was only a Nintendo Switch release. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining; if it could only come to one console, that’s the one I would choose. But luckily it isn’t limited like that, and the developer has announced that Bunhouse will be released soon for PlayStation and Xbox.

Unfortunately, DDNet’s review of Bunhouse for PC was lost to the Great Website Migration of 2022. But some articles about it are still available, including a brief look at it as a Game of Christmas in 2021. There, Matt writes about the game: “You be a bunneh. It’s cute, it’s charming, it’s warm, it’s accessible, and it’s just so nice that you can’t help but love it. As much as we all love games that challenge and invigorate us, something like this is perfect for entertaining the little kids when they’re around, or puttering around with while sipping a glass (or bottle) or two of eggnog.” Tell me that doesn’t make you want to play, like, immediately.

Bunhouse is a cute, simple game about growing plants and managing a greenhouse with other bunnies. Take care of plants by balancing the water they need with the light they get. The core vision of the game is for players to play alone or with up to four friends, then relax and be happy. You’re not killing anyone or anything. There’s nobody you need to be better than. There are no quests. No debt. Just a greenhouse full of possibilities.

Key features in the game include growing/selling plants, caring for plants, ordering new decorations, and upgrading the greenhouse.

Here is Bunhouse’s console announce trailer from September 2022:

For anyone who has already played and loved Bunhouse, the developer is currently crowdfunding its next game: Cinnabunny. Yep, a bunny baking game! Wait… not like that. It’s about bunnies doing the baking, not bunnies being baked in an oven. It is a couch co-hop (ha) game about being a bunneh living in a village with others bunnehs while running a bakery. It’s worth checking out!

Developed and published by Reky Studios, Bunhouse will be released for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, and Xbox One on April 12. It is already available for PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch.

Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
