Even pineapples under the sea get filthy.

It was announced months ago that PowerWash Simulator will be getting three paid DLC packs this year, but no specifics were given. Well, the first has been announced, and there’s a famous sea sponge behind it. A certain seas sponge who lives in a pineapple under the sea. That’s right: SpongeBob SquarePants is coming to PowerWash Simulator with six new maps! I must say, this was quite unexpected considering SpongeBob’s world is already underwater… what will shooting water at these places do?!

If you’re not familiar with PowerWash Simulator, here’s a brief description: stuff gets dirty, then you wash it. That’s quite literally it, and I have a serious obsession around it. There’s something so soothing about shooting streams of water to make dirty stuff clean. You start small, and build up to these huge properties. Clean everything from vans to heater skelters to mansions. It’s so satisfying.

So back to the upcoming DLC pack. The SpongeBob SquarePants Special Pack will sell for $7.99/€7.99/£6.49, and be available on all platforms (listed at the end of this article). It is a love letter to the source material and created in the distinct style of the original cartoon, thanks to a collaboration with Nickelodeon. The character model gets a marine makeover to help them fit in with the residents of Bikini Bottom, including a custom-designed power washer.

What on earth (or under the sea?) has happened to Bikini Bottom?! The tiny tidal town has suffered from a myriad of mysteriously mucky mishaps. Get to the bottom of it before another mud-slinging match starts between Mr. Krabs and Plankton. The mini campaign spans six new maps featuring Conch Street, the Bikini Bottom Bus, the Krusty Krab, the Patty Wagon, the Invisible Boatmobile, and the Mermalair. For the systems with achievements (sorry, Nintendo Switch players) there are ten new aquatic-based achievements to fish for.

“I’m so excited about this Special Pack! Our team has created another faithful IP crossover that is respectful to the source” says FuturLab Co-CEO, James Marsden, in a press release. “I think this one in particular really shows how much we care about exceeding expectations to do each IP partnership justice.”

Developed by FuturLab and published by Square Enix Collective, PowerWash Simulator is currently available for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series, and Xbox One. The SpongeBob SquarePants Special Pack will be released “this summer” so sometime between June and August.
