Digitally Downloaded covers the announcement of Fate/Samurai Remnant by Koei Tecmo and Type-Moon

I did not expect that my first day back writing for the year would include covering an announcement that has me this excited, but Koei Tecmo working with Type-Moon to produce a Fate game is certainly up there.

The two companies have announced Fate/Samurai Remnant, which will release this year for PlayStation 4 and 5, Switch and PC. We don’t have much more than a teaser trailer at this stage, but we do know that it will be an “action RPG” and will be developed by Omega Force and Kou Shibusawa.

That suggests to me that it will be a Musou-type game, probably along the line of Persona 5 Strikers or Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, given the heritage of that particular development unit. There’s nothing wrong with that, of course. Indeed, there have been previous Fate Musou-like releases, such as Fate/Extella Link, and those were decent enough. It can only be a good thing that the top developer in this particular niche is now working on one.

Especially if they figure out a way to put Rin Tohsaka into the game. Please give me Rin Tohsaka, Koei.

We’ll definitely be sharing more information on this game as it comes to light.Support 7
