Disgaea 7 launched a few days ago in Japan, which makes the announcement of its western release perfectly timed. Trailers have been dropping consistently over the past several months, including this one from November 9. Now, with its western launch window announced, the English trailers will start coming in for Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless. Let’s take a look at the first one and learn more about the game, its limited editions, and its release date/platforms.
The epic strategy RPG adventure (what a mouthful!) is set in the demonic realm of Hinomoto, where the days of noble warriors are numbered. Caught up in the goings-on, a lazy samurai and a bushido fangirl become allies as they fight against tyrants while discovering the meanings of honour and redemption. The world is inspired by Feudal Japan (which is a super popular thing right now, apparently) and draws from ancient and modern history.
Players can customize their own team with a roster of over 40 character classes; there are four new additions – Maiko, Bandit, Zombie Maiden, and Big Eye. The game has features new to the series, including Jumbification, which lets characters grow to huge proportions and inflict a larger amount of damage. There is also Hell Mode, Item Reincarnation, improved auto-battle, and online ranked battles.

Developed by Nippon Ichi Software and published by NIS America, Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless will be released for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch in “fall” 2023, AKA Q4 2023 since we’re not all in the northern hemisphere. (Seriously, publicity people, can we just put quarters since the entire world isn’t in the same season?)
