Mad Head Games has been around since 2011, and it has been a wild ride that led to its acquisition by Saber Interactive and, through that, becoming a part of Embracer Group in 2020. Now the team is gearing up for its first big game under its new owners, and it’s looking really good indeed.

Scars Above is an upcoming third-person action-adventure shooter, that, as described on the Steam page, will offer a “rewarding feel of overcoming difficulty with a compelling and intricate story.” It also looks like it’s going to be quite the big sci-fi production, and we’re always up for those.

Too many times we’ve seen sci-if alien titles fall a bit short in their attempts to explore the depths of their key cosmetic and aesthetic concepts. While the gameplay is obviously integral for the success of a game, it’s everything the gameplay supports that tends to distinguish these games, and it’s looking like Mad Head Games is totally aware of this.

If you want any chance of survival, you’ll have to use the resources around you and your wits about you to modify your VERA, a highly modular welding tool that looks a bit like a rifle, but fires electrical arcs instead of bullets.

While a release date hasn’t yet been announced, you can expect a date for some time late this year, or early next year, available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam.
