That’s right! The original Spark the Electric Jester action-platformer is getting a threequel!

Feperd Games, an indie-development “team” (it’s really just comprised of a single developer) is responsible for the quite excellent series over the past five years.

With the third instalment landing in under a week on August 15 on Steam for PC, Feperd Games has released an official statement on the game, as well as a trailer outlining gameplay.

“Continuing directly from where Spark the Electric Jester 2 left off, join Spark on his mission to overthrow his rival once again. Blaze through fast action-packed stages and experience a new and improved combat system.

“The gameplay is a mix of action and platforming in a clever way, taking elements from many games of both genres, you are able to find powers that change the way you play, enjoy great freedom of movement, discover many different ways to beat each stage, and ways to do it faster.”

And with this in mind, let’s take a look back at the prior releases of the series, both of which are very clearly heavily inspired by the Sonic franchise. Although the original iteration had received mostly positive reviews by gamers and even critics, the second instalment was criticised for its unoriginality in aspects of audio, level, and combat mechanics designs.

Hopefully the mind behind Feperd Games will have noted that and it will be overhauled in this upcoming third edition.
