Ys IX: Monstrum Nox is the latest in a long-running series of action JRPGs that I have had a complex relationship with over the years… but this one? Wow, do I love this one. Nihon Falcom has knocked it out of the park and then some.

It all comes down to the narrative; this game has a storytelling quality to a whole other level, and I just couldn’t put the game down because I had to know what’s coming next.

In this video, I discuss what I love about this game’s narrative – it’s a spoiler-free video, I promise! I only took footage from the first couple of hours and chapters.
