What makes western RPGs great?

Video by Matt S.

I’ve had western RPGs on the mind recently, having played a bunch of them for review (and with Baldur’s Gate 3 to look forward to yet!). The western RPG is substantially different to the JRPGs that I usually cover on this channel, so I thought it would be fun to do a video looking at what it is about the western RPG that I find enjoyable, and what qualities I look for when playing them.

I also put a bunch of footage from the recent Kingdoms of Amalur remaster in the video, just in case you were curious of seeing what the game looks like in action. Just the first 10 or so hours though, so no big spoilers I promise.

What do you look for in western RPGs? What are some of your favourite examples of the genre? Drop us a note in the comments!
