Moons Of Madness: Lovecraftian or a noble attempt?

Video by Matt S.

Moons of Madness claims to be a Lovecraftian-inspired horror game, and it certainly has the tentacles for it! Unfortunately, it largely misses the mark at what cosmic horror aims for, replacing it with jump scares and an emphasis on the grotesque.

In this video I talk a little about why Lovecraft is so difficult to do justice to in video games, and where some of Moon of Madness’ failings are. It’s still a good enough game, don’t get me wrong! It just doesn’t quite nail the brief it was aiming for.

Thanks as always for tuning in!
