A trifecta of Fallout 4 news

That’s right, there’s three pieces of Fallout 4 news originating from the past week! Most important to the game’s impending release is the news that the game has gone gold, which means it has been completed for the retail release on November 10 (excluding day-one patches, which are becoming far too common).

Oct 23rd – the bombs have fallen. Fallout 4 is complete. All 27 versions. pic.twitter.com/AwkWOoTEgt

The second piece of news is that a limited edition of The Art of Fallout 4 is available for pre-order on the Bethesda website. The third piece of news, which is by far the coolest, is that Bethesda has partnered with Carlsberg UK to create 12-packs of of Fallout beer, available via Amazon to those in the UK with an expected delivery date of November 5. You read that right: Fallout BEER. According to Bethesda, the new is “a pilsner lager, with a refreshing zesty hoppy taste and a floral aroma.”

The man with the first ever gamertag leaves Microsoft

After 18.5 years with Microsoft – over 14 of which were spent with Xbox – Eric Neustadter is leaving Microsoft behind, he revealed in a tweet last week. It has been revealed why he left (and does it really matter?) but without a doubt he will be missed over at Xbox. Neustadter is best known for creating the first Xbox Live gamertag (“e”) but he did much more than that behind the scenes, with his past titles having included architect, operations manager, and gaming ninja (ha!) of Xbox Live Operations.

After 14.5 years working at Xbox (18.5 at MS) today is my last day. It’s been an amazing ride. So Long, and Thanks for All the Gamerscore!

Customize your PS4 with faceplates… if you live in Australia or Europe

There is nothing better than customizing game consoles, in my humble opinion. I am “that” person who would constantly change the faceplates on the original Xbox 360, and who genuinely missed the feature in later updates. But for PlayStation 4 owners in Australia and Europe, the dream is alive once more! On November 18 is Europe and November 19 is Australia, Sony is launching a line of coloured faceplates for the console. Colours include aqua blue, glacier white, neon orange, and red (I think they got tired by the end of the naming process); the faceplates are installed by taking off the hard disk cover and sliding on the faceplate until it clicks.

Batman is coming! Batman is coming!

Batman: Arkham Knight is finally returning to PC after a more-than-turbulent launch several months ago. In a Steam Community post, Warner Bros. confirmed that the game would be re-released at 10 a.m. PDT on October 28. At the same time, a patch will be released that brings the PC version up to date with all current content (minus console exclusives). This means all players will be able to access Photo Mode, Big Head Bode, and a headful of other features and skins. Season pass holders will have instant access to all released content to date including story packs, race tracks, skins, and challenge packs.

Does any of this news tickle your fancy or make you steaming mad? Let us know in the comments! And meet us again next week for a new edition of Catch-up coffee Monday.
