We love Never Alone. We really love Never Alone. We love Never Alone so much it received a rare five-star review and gave it praise for being “a rich exploration of a story we simply don’t hear often” and “a genuinely authentic cultural vision.” Now Sony has announced on the PlayStation Blog that there will be DLC available for Never Alone on the PS4 on July 28, and we are jumping for joy.

Foxtales adds three new levels to the game, and Sony promises it will build off the original game by giving players new abilities (Nuna can row and steer a canoe now, Fox can change water currents) and more complex puzzles. The trailer alone evokes all the emotions reminiscent of Never Alone, with emphasis being put on the bond between Nuna and Fox and the environment that surrounds them.

The levels are based on “The Two Coastal Brothers,” a story told by Willie Panik Goodwin, Sr. In the story, one brother is a strong hunter/fighter and the other is a strong swimmer, and they must work together to defeat their antagonist (sorry for being vague, but no spoilers here!). The story almost mirrors the relationship between Nuna and Fox, making it an excellent basis for new levels featuring the duo. The environment will be slightly different from that in the original game, being set in the Northwest Alaskan coast and in the spring.

Never Alone: Foxtails currently only has a PS4 release, but we hope to see it everywhere in the near future. Never Alone is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, Windows, and Mac; it will also be made available for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita Q4 of this year.
