Valiant Comics reloads and preps for their first big crossover.
Valiant Comics was a publishing force to be reckoned with back in the ’90s and now they’re back- with a vengeance.The publisher is producing some of the best comics on the market today, bar none. From the action/horror title Shadowman to the high-tech X-O Manowar, you’ll find some of the coolest stories and most inventive characters in comics hitting shelves on a regular basis from the publisher.
Harbinger Wars is the first big time crossover event since the company re-launched last year and pairs off the nanite-powered mercenary Bloodshot with the telekinetic teens of Harbinger. You can check out a preview of the upcoming book right here. And if you’re not reading Valiant’s books, this is the perfect chance to hop on board- you’ll be glad you did.
The return of an animation powerhouse.
Does the name Studio Ghibli ring a bell? Yeah, I thought it might. The longstanding animation studio has turned out some of the most beloved ‘cartoons’ this side of the Walt Disney Company, including some real honest to goodness classics.
This coming year, Ghibli has not one- but two new features on the way. You want unique? How about a film about the designer of the Mitsubishi A6M Zero? The Wind is Rising tells the story of Jir Horikoshi, the man who designed one of Japan’s signature weapons of war from WWII.

Kickstarter blows-up with Torment: Tides of Numernera.
Crowd sourcing engine Kickstarter has brought about all kind of cool stuff since its creation and subsequent discovery by the gaming industry. One of the biggest games to see funding through the site thus far is undoubtedly Wasteland 2.
inXile’s sequel to the classic RPG that served as inspiration to the Fallout series hit it big and will soon see release for the PC as a result. So how do you follow that up? Easy, the developer is reviving yet another classic RPG – Torment.
Torment: Tides of Numenera recently went up on the crowd funding site and has already blasted through its goal. Actually, it kind of annihilated it by more than doubling what the company was looking for originally. InXile needed 900k (USD) to get things started for Torment, and the project just passed 2.6 million with over 20 days to go in the campaign. Think folks want to play this one?
