Ouya, the little Kickstarter project that could, has today finished its fundraising effort, pulling in a whopping $8.5 million.

Given that the designers were looking for $950,000, that’s a pretty big deal.

So what happens next? It would seem likely that, in addition to setting that $8.5 million in motion to start producing the consoles, the folks at Ouya will want to start looking for some angel investors. If they really want to take the games industry by storm, $8.5 million is hardly sufficient to make this thing a mainstream device.

But, given how successful the Kickstarter project was, I suspect that there will be more than a few interested Angel investors.

So best of luck to Ouya! We can’t wait to see this on the shelves!
