Been liking the classic arcade offerings from SNK Playmore on the PSN? Get set for download, because they’ve got another pair of classics ready for your PSP/PS3.

The ‘Retro Arcade Emulation’ project that the publisher started up a while ago has actually resulted in a very solid register of games appearing on the PSN including Guerilla War (one of my fave’s), Ikari Warrior, and Vanguard. It’s nice to see (as a classic arcade fan anyway) that the NEOGEO storefront on Sony’s download service is fast turning into an excellent option for players looking to replay through the golden age of the arcade.

This week, another dynamic duo are dropping onto the PSN with Chopper I and The Next Space. I can’t say I remember either one of them from when they were originally released way back in the 1980’s, but that’s one of the cool things about SNK Playmore’s push to get these titles loaded up for download. If you remember them, great– here’s your chance to play ’em again. If you don’t, well… you just might find something new from the company’s almost 40 year long history to sink your teeth into.

CHOPPER I

Infiltrate the enemy territory and take down enemy choppers, tanks and boats in this vertically scrolling helicopter shooting game released by SNK in 1988.

THE NEXT SPACE
Pilot a spaceship, collect various speed and weapon items to take down a multitude of enemies, and restore peace to the galaxy in this vertical scrolling shooter released by SNK in 1989.
Both titles are available now for $2.99 USD. And for more classic NEOGEO stuff, click on through to the fan page on Facebook.
