Seeing how Sega reported the news, it would not be illogical to assume that the other games may suffer a similar fate (Sega has no need to report the games unrelated to its console). If you want these games, you should act quickly, since this is probably your last chance to get them - assuming the games do indeed get removed.

Remember, take this news with a grain of salt. Sega only reported that R-Type would be removed, so there is no definitive proof that the others will leave the service.

Guess its time to pick it up then, I was putting that off behind some other things... any word on why?
Need to get myself Spelunker just in case, I think.
I really dislike seeing some of the games pulled from the catalogs. It makes it hard to get the games again too at a later date if needed - one of the vices to digital downloads. Like when Double Dragon and Speedball 2 got yanked from the Xbox Live Marketplace awhile back:

Unless you knew to dig through your download history, you have no access to these games since you can't find them in the purchase menu. There's several other games like this I've seen as well on PSN and Xbox Marketplace in the past, and my download lists are... huge. Trying to find a missing title or two in them when I get a new system is a pain in the arse.
Anyone check the shop channel to see what's still there? I haven't had a chance to do that myself and pick anything up.
As a funny side note r-type for android on Amazon's appstore seems to be #1 in the last few days.
