One day prior to its Early Access launch, Cygnus Cross decided to delay ARPG and town/farm sim Emberville. Emberville’s gameplay is described as Diablo-lite meets Stardew Valley. The game goes beyond traditional “farm and fight” games with a simple (yet deep) combat system, an inherited skill levelling system, and challenging boss fights.
A message from the development teams states the delay is due to shared feedback following the Steam Next Fest demo. Some improvements, such as reworking bow combat, simply could not be done within that timeframe. In addition, the Early Access release will include some “essential improvements.”
“We also want to be clear about what we are working toward,” says the message. “Our team has a clear vision for how Emberville will develop throughout Early Access. On January 7th, our goal is to deliver an experience that shows what makes the game distinctive, establishes its core gameplay, and offers a compelling glimpse of how the game will grow throughout Early Access.”
Here are the game’s key features, via Cygnus Cross:
- Fast-paced Combat Mechanics: Action-oriented combat featuring a variety of weapons, skills, and abilities.
- Multifaceted Game Progression: Level up weapon and armour categories to unlock new skills, learn and improve gathering and crafting skills, rescue NPCs to rebuild Emberville, and explore the world to uncover hidden treasures and secrets.
- Farming, Gathering, and Crafting: Grow crops; gather plants, wood, and minerals; and craft items.
- Creative Area: Customize a player area with houses, buildings, and objects that can be used to improve skills, craft items, and relax.
- Procedural Generation: Explore the giant procedurally generated world of Emberville, featuring levels with a variety of events, biomes, enemies, treasures, and more.
Developed and published by Cygnus Cross, Emberville will be released in Early Access for PC via Steam on January 7, 2027.
